Subgroup of glycosides, organic compounds in which the OH group on C atom 1 (or 2) of the glucose is glycosidically linked (usually beta-glycosidically) to alcoholic or phenolic hydroxyl groups of plant ingredients or other reaction partners. Glucosides can therefore be regarded as a subgroup of glycosides. Glucosides split off glucose during hydrolysis.
