Dermatitis solaris: Large, very painful erythema with beginning blister formation on the back of the foot. 30-year-old patient after several hours of sunbathing in the midday sun.
dermatitis, phototoxic. stage of healing. solitary, acute, localised, linear, about 30 cm long, sharply defined, initially itchy, now symptom-free, rough, slightly scaly, red plaque. appears after contact with a reed plant when bathing at the lake.
Dermatitis, phototoxic. about 48 hours old, distally (by socks) sharply bordered, severely itching, partly erythematous, partly vesicular or bullous dermatitis. the 45-year-old patient had applied a St. John's wort containing liquid to the lower leg during a picnic in the countryside because of an insect bite. the same evening the first inflammatory skin symptoms appeared.
Primary cutaneous marginal zone lymphoma: painless brown plaque with central nodular formation that has existed for several months; no evidence of systemic involvement.
Brucellosis. the skin changes were preceded by a prodromal stage with undulating pyrexia and uncharacteristic flu-like symptoms (headache and aching limbs). in this detailed picture, the different stages of development of the efflorescences are shown.
Tinea cruris: chronic plaque, slightly faded at the centre, accentuated at the edges, large, moderately itchy plaque with interspersed pustules and inflamed papules.
Lichen planus verrucosus: detailed view of the distal parts. marginal smaller partly solitary parts aggregated reddish shining papules. crusts caused by scratching effects (indication of the obviously "punctual" localized itching). the blown off parts point to atrophic areas (scarring).
Glomangiomatosis, generalized. palm-sized bundle of livid vessels shimmering through the skin, partly tendril-shaped vascular ectasia at the back of the thigh in a 7-year-old boy.
Erysipelas. painful redness and swelling of the left foot in a 65-year-old man with fever. In addition, in the corresponding lymph drainage area of the groin region single enlarged lymph nodes can be palpated.
Pemphigoid, bullous. large, garland-shaped bordered urticarial erythema as well as large, locally confluent hemorrhagic and skin-coloured blisters in an elderly patient.
lymphedema, type Nonne-Milroy. distinct swelling of both lower legs and forefeet in a 74-year-old patient. family history: grandmother had lymphedema throughout her life. the patient's granddaughter also complains of lymphedema that is largely resistant to therapy.
