Candida albicans. culture topside: cultivation on selective, modified (cycloheximide, chloramphenicol) cinnamon agar at 25 °C. Fast growing (1-2 days), white or creamy mat colonies with porcelain-like, smooth surface. typical yeast smell.

Candida albicans; underside of the plant: white to cream-coloured colonies, slightly darker compared to the upper side of the plant; sharply limited growth.

Candida albicans. Cultivation on chromium selective agar (Beckton Dickinson BBL CHROMagar Candida) at 25 °C. Fast growing (1-2 days), green colonies with porcelain-like, smooth surface and lobed rim (in the picture purple colonies originate from the simultaneous cultivation of Candida guilliermondii).
