Das CTPS1-Gen (CTPS1 steht für CTP Synthase 1) ist ein Protein kodierendes Gen, das auf Chromosom 1p34.2 lokalisiert ist. Alternatives Spleißen führt zu mehreren Transkriptvarianten.
Allgemeine Information
Das CTPS1-Gen kodiert ein Enzym, das für die katalytische Umwandlung von UTP (Uridintriphosphat) in CTP (Cytidintriphosphat) verantwortlich ist. Diese Reaktion ist ein wichtiger Schritt in der Biosynthese von Phospholipiden und Nukleinsäuren.
Das CTPS1-Enzym spielen eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Proliferation aktivierter Lymphozyten und damit bei immunologische Reaktionen.
Die Aktivität dieses Enzyms ist wichtig für das Immunsystem, und ein Funktionsverlust dieses Gens wurde mit einem Immundefizienzsyndrom in Verbindung gebracht.
