Sabale extract

Serenoa repens, the saw palmetto plant, is found in larger stands mainly in the southeastern USA. Serenoa repens is the parent plant of Fructus Sabalis serrulatae, the saw palmetto fruit (Sabal fruit or Sabal).

Extracts of Fructus Sabalis serrulatae contain: essential and fatty oils with 75% fatty acids like caproic, caprinic, lauric, palmitic and oleic acids. Furthermore free or esterified beta-sitosterol, flavonoids (rutin, rhoifolin and isoquercitrin) and various other fatty acids. polysaccharides.

Aqueous and alcoholic extracts have an anti-inflammatory effect

Lipophilic extracts have an antiandrogenic effect (without estrogenic action).

Ethanolic saw palmetto extracts are mixed with other phyto extracts (especially pumpkin seed extracts, stinging nettle root extracts) and are used for benign prostate hyperplasia in stages I to II (Note: study results are mixed).

Dermatologically, saba extracts are used for acne and androgenetic alopecia.

Cosmetics: Serona serrulata extract is widely used in cosmetic formulations.
