Nuts

The term "nuts" covers a variety of fruits that belong to different botanical genera. The allergologically relevant nuts include:

• Nuts(hazelnut, walnut, macadamia nut, pecan nut)
• Stone fruits(almond, pistachio, cashew)
• Capsule fruits(Brazil nut)

Regardless of the different botanical classifications, there are serological and clinical relationships (cross-reactions) between the individual nuts in allergological sciht. They are based on conserved plant allergen families found in most fruits. The following allergen families are the most commonly affected:

• PR-10 proteins (pathogenesis-related proteins)
• Lipid transfer proteins
• Profiline
• Oleosins
