Rosacea erythematosa: extensive and even reddening of both cheeks due to the development of multiple telangiectasias; variable course of reddening; intensification with slight swelling due to cold/heat changes or after alcohol consumption.
Dermatomyositis, malignoma-associated. individual erythema periorbital (here additionally edematous), perinasal and at the scalp in a 67-year-old patient with bronchial carcinoma.
Ulerythema ophryogenes. scarring keratosis follicularis of the face with infestation of the eyebrows and cheeks of the child. primarily noticeable is the permanent (not itchy) extensive redness, which is sharply marked in the eyebrow area, but less in the cheek area. the patients do not perceive the process as a disease process but as cosmetically disturbing.
mononucleosis, infectious. swallowing difficulties for 5-6 days; fever > 39 °C. generalized, non-itchy exanthema for 1 day. painful regional lymph nodes (neck, throat). little itchy, urticarial, small spots, confluent exanthema in places with clear accentuation of the face. no enanthema! paul bunnel reaction positive. IgG antibodies against epstein-barr virus, fourfold increase in titer every 10-14 days. detection of epstein-barr virus dna via PCR is positive.
Chloasma gravidarum perstans: Chronic stationary, no longer increasing, periorally localized, smooth, brown spots in a 29-year-old woman 14 months after delivery.
Vascular (capillary) malformation (so-called naevus flammeus): Congenital, generalized, spotty erythema from the scalp to the sole of the foot in an 8-year-old boy, developed according to age.
DD: Rosacea erythematosus- here lupus pernio: 63-year-old female patient with reddish-livid plaque of the nose and previously known chronic pulmonary sarcoidosis.
Melanoma, malignant, lentigo-maligna melanoma. deep black, irregularly limited, asymmetrical plaque in the facial region. on the right medial side an almost skin-coloured verruca seborrhoica.
Chloasma gravidarum perstans: Chronic stationary, no longer increasing, smooth, brown spots located in the temporal region in a 29-year-old woman 14 months after delivery.
lupus erythematosus acute-cutaneous: acute symmetrical skin symptoms after sun exposure, which have persisted for 1 week. pat. was previously free of skin symptoms. clear feeling of tension in the skin. laboratory: ANA+; anti dsDNA antibodies neg.; anti-Ro antibodies positive.
angiosarcoma of the head and facial skin. for several years (!) increasing, so far completely asymptomatic, blurred, red spots on cheeks and forehead in a 75-year-old man. medical consultation because of recurrent, extensive bleeding in lesional skin. since one month growth of a soft, 8 mm large, solid blue-black node in the middle of the cheeks. extensive, configured redness with bizarre, linear and reticular telangiectasia. bleeding in the zygomatic bone.
rosacea papulopustulosa: centrofacially localized redness, inflammatory papules and pustules. infestation of the eyelids. recurrent keratoconjunctivitis.
