Cutaneous mastocytosis of adulthood

S.u. Maculopapular cutaneous mastocytosis (overview)

Flat, oval or round, grayish-brown or reddish-brown spots, 0.1-0.5 cm in size. After firm brushing of the lesions, there is an urticarial reaction in the foci(Darier's sign); more rarely, subepidermal blistering. Frequently, an elevated dermographism can also be triggered. Initially weak, later stronger lesional pigmentation. The most frequent accompanying symptom is itching.

Special forms of cutaneous mastocytosis of adulthood:

• Urticaria pigmentosa haemorrhagica.
• "Exanthematic" urticaria pigmentosa
• Urticaria pigmentosa bullosa
• Urticaria pigmentosa xanthelasmoidea
• Teleangiectasia macularis eruptiva perstans.

Mastocytosis patients show a high prevalence of anaphylaxis and are often diagnosed for the first time via these (Gülen T et al. 2017). Main triggers for anaphylaxis in adults are insect bites (19%), food (16%) and drugs (9%).
