- (¤ 1878, † 1933) Swiss dermatologist born in 1878 in Oberendingen/Switzerland as the son of a general practitioner. His father was the first Swiss Jew to be admitted to medical school. Bruno Bloch studied human medicine in Basel. In 1902 he passed the state examination and trained in Basel under the internist Wilhelm His. His gave him the order to establish a dermatological department in Basel. He furthered his dermatological training with Joseph Jadassohn in Berne. 1908 postdoctoral lecturing qualification at the University of Basel on the subject of "dermatomycoses". 1913 Appointment as associate professor. At the same time he was appointed head of the now independent dermatology clinic. In 1916 Bloch was commissioned by the medical faculty in Zurich to establish a dermatological university clinic. He thus became the first dermatological full professor in Zurich. His student Guido Miescher was elected as his successor in Zurich in 1933.
