(¤ 1831, † 1909) Besnier was born on 21.04.1831 as the son of a customs officer in Honfleur in northern France. He studied human medicine in Paris. In 1857 general medical training. 1863 Recognition as "Médicin des Hôpiteaux" in Paris. In the following years, he established himself as one of the leading internists in France. During the Franco-Prussian War (1870/71) he was deployed as an ambulance doctor. In 1872 he became the successor of the dermatologist Antoine Ernest Pierre Bazin at L'Hôpital Saint Louis in Paris as an internist. In 1904 he published the textbook "La Practique Dermatologie" together with Brocq and Jaquet. Establishment of histological examinations as routine procedures. 1890 First description of lupus pernio.
