(¤ 1807, † 1877) Bazin was born on 20.02.1807 in Saint-Brice-sous Bois, a town north of Paris. He studied in Paris. Doctorate in 1834; in 1847 appointed chief physician at L`Hôpital Saint Louis in Paris. There he worked together with other leading dermatologists such as Alphonse Devergie, Camille Melchior Gibert and Alphée Cazenave. Bazin is one of the most important French dermatologists of the 19th century. Extensive scientific works on mycotic skin infections. 1861 First description of the erythema induratum named after Bazin. 1862 Differentiation and clinical description of Hidroa vacciniformia.
