Very easy to spread (independent of temperature!), hydrophobic gel of the oleo-gel type similar to vaseline for external application. The adhesion on mucous membranes can be improved by adding hydrophilic gel formers(betonite, methyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cell ulose, starch, carboxymethyl cellulose or alginates) (see also Hypromellose Adhesive Paste 40% (NRF 7.8.))! The base is used in many finished medicaments. Among others, it is found in soft dithranol zinc paste (NRF 11.56.), in hydrophobic skin-coloured covering paste (NRF 11.58.9 and various adhesive pastes).

Use-by date: tube: 3 years

Note: irreversible loss of consistency when heated to >60ºC.
