Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein ist ein Transmembranphosphoprotein, das spezifisch mit der Tyrosinphosphatase PTPRC/CD45 assoziiert ist, einem wichtigen Regulator der T- und B-Lymphozytenaktivierung. Es wird vermutet, dass die Interaktion mit PTPRC für die stabile Expression dieses Proteins erforderlich ist.
