Trichotillomania. since 2 years in different extension occurring, circumscribed, laminar bald patches in the area of the frontoparietal scalp in a 10-year-old boy, whereby due to incomplete, frequent pulling out, again and again single tufts of hair have stopped. stubbly scalp with partly broken off hairs. artificial (unusual shape of the bald patch) pattern.

trichotillomania. severely thinned hair with healthy scalp and intact follicular structure. scratched areas in the centre of the picture. with the detection of follicular structures a "scarred" alopecia can be excluded.

Trichotillomania: Hair follicles with missing or even single hair tufts that can be recognized without magnifying glasses.
