Trichophyton interdigital. cultivated on selective, modified (cycloheximide, chloramphenicol) cinnamon agar at 25 °C room temperature; fast-growing (after 8-10 days mycelium 1 cm ø), airy, flat, white to white-grey or pale yellow colonies with cotton wool-like surface (strong air mycelium) and tendency to pleomorphism.

Trichophyton interdigitale. underside of the plant: Intense yellow to white-yellow or light brown colour in the centre; blurred edges with a fine, hairy border.

Trichophyton interdigital. microscopy of the culture:Typical spiral hyphae (right half of the picture) numerous, especially in older cultures. strongly branched hyphae (left half of the picture). microconidia round or pear-shaped in both acladian and botrytic arrangement. chlamydospores thick-walled, also exposed. macroconidia (missing in the picture; if present mostly sausage- to cigar-shaped, thin- and smooth-walled, 3-8 chambers.
