Penicillium spp... cultivar: cultivated on non-selective chimney agar; very fast growing colonies; very wide colour variation; depending on the species, besides whitish greyish tones, also greenish bluish to yellowish brownish colours; deep radial furrows of the colonies with a wadded, powdery surface.
Penicillium spp... underside of the crop: yellowish to creamy colour; distinct radial furrow/folding of the colony.
Penicillium spp... Microscopy of the culture: From the branched hyphae conidiophores branch off vertically and branch off into primary and secondary metulae on which the sterigmas with the conidia sit and form "brush-like" formations. Clear sporulation in the lower left picture.
