Ankylostomiasis. head of the adult hookworm Necator americanus. there are two crescent-shaped cutting plates in the head. the worms hold on to the intestinal mucosa, eat parts of the mucosa and suck blood through it. furthermore, the cuticle (outer skin muscle tube), which is typical for nematodes, can be seen.
ankylostomiasis. egg of Ancylostoma duodenale/Necator americanus. microscopic evidence in faeces. the eggs are oval, have a thin, hyaline shell and are 50-60 x 40-45 µm in size. Ancylostoma duodenal and Necator americanus eggs are not distinguishable microscopically in faeces.
