Venous pressure points

Painful palpation sites in the area of the medial muscles of the sole of the foot (see sign according to Payr under phlebothrombosis), splint pressure pain according to Bisgaard or wall pain with plantar flexion (Homs sign) are important, often diagnostically groundbreaking signs of fresh leg vein thrombosis.

90% of all phlebothromboses occur in the lower extremity. Symptoms include paresthesia, cramps, spontaneous pain (calf, heel), fleeting initial edema (back of the foot, calves, thigh flexion, inner thigh), occasional slight knee joint effusions and pressure pain as objective early signs.
