Venous clinical severity score

score for clinical severity of chronic venous insufficiency, which was first published in 1996 and modified in 2000 by the American Venous Forum.

10 parameters are classified by severity 0-3 (mild, moderate, clear) based on a clinical definition. The resulting score is added to a total of 0-30.

The following parameters are listed:

1. Pain (0, occasional, permanent occasional analgesics, daily, detailed restriction, regular analgesics)
2. Varices (0, isolated lateral branch varices, mltiple varices, pronounced varicosis of OS and US)
3. Venous oedema (0, evening ankle oedema, afternoon oedema above the ankles, morning oedema above the ankles)
4. Pigmentation (0, disseminated but old, gamma-like distribution, large area > 1/3 of the lower US)
5. Inflammation (0, mild hypodermitis, moderate hypodermitis, marked hypodermitis >1/3 of the lower US)
6. Induration (0, focal perimalleolar, < lower 1/3 of the US, >1/3 of the lower US)
7. Number of ulcers (0, 1, 2, >3)
8. Duration of ulcerations
9. ulcer size (0, <2cm, 2-6cm, >6cm)
10. Compression therapy (none, (occasional wearing, predominant wearing, full compliance)

The score has not been widely disseminated so far.
