Thrombocytopenia acquired D69.5

Depending on the etiology, a distinction is made between:

• Amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia: Formation disorder of the thrombocytes, e.g. in case of drug-induced bone marrow insufficiency, malignancies of the bone marrow, vitamin _B12 or folic acid deficiency, toxic or infectious bone marrow damage, osteomyelosclerosis.
• Megakaryocytic thrombocytopenia: Shortened platelet life span: Frequent allergic (drug!) induced platelet destruction. The thrombocytopenias observed after COVID vaccinations are likely to be in this category (Gambichler T et al 2022).
• Essential thrombocytopenia: Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.
