Chronically inflamed ulcer at the base of a postthrombotic syndrome.

Chronic callus ulcer in an inflamed, often indurated and hyperpigmented environment. The edge of the ulcer is eczematized, weeping, the ulcer base smearily covered with pus. The subcutaneous fatty tissue is missing; the muscles form the ulcer base. The pain in the ulcer can be persistently severe and only subsides after several hours of bed rest.
