Verbenae herba

Verbenae Herba has astringent, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antispasmodic, analgesic, tonic and diaphoretic properties. A positive effect on the respiratory tract, digestive system, metabolism, urinary tract, nervous system, skin and "women's complaints" has been known since the Middle Ages. Verbenae Herba contains iridoglycosides verbenalin (cornine), hastatoside, verbascoside (phenolcarboxylic acid glycoside), tannin, bitter substances and essential oil.

As a combination preparation with primrose flowers, gentian root, dock herb and elderflower as a finished medicinal product for acute inflammation of the paranasal sinuses.

Efficacy not proven as a monopreparation.

Acute and chronic rhinosinusitis, acute and chronic pharyngitis, chronic bronchitis Non-complicative acute and chronic wounds, insect bite reactions, regulation of the menstrual cycle. During lactation the extract stimulates the milk flow.

As a hot infusion vervain can be used for colds.

Tea preparations: Herba Verbenae is prepared as tea or tincture and can be used externally (in envelopes) as well as internally. For this, 2 teaspoons of verbena are poured over boiling water and left for 5 minutes.

Finished preparations: Vervain is found in combination preparations together with gentian root+garden sorrel+holuder flowers+key flowers with calyx as Sinupret forte® (dosage: 1-1-1Drg) or as Sinupret Saft® (7.0ml-7.0ml-7.0ml p.o. - for children from 2-5-LJ: 2.1ml-2.1ml-2.1ml p.o.; for children from 6-11-LJ: 3.5ml-3.5ml-3.5ml p.o.).
