Poisonous climbing plant with leaves up to 15 cm long and creamy white flower panicles up to 25 cm long from China. The fruits are pink to pink-red, three-winged, hence the name.

The three-winged fruit is used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for autoimmune diseases, polyarthritis, lupus erythematosus and local inflammation. The three-winged fruit is the only medicinal plant mentioned in the AMWF guidelines for rheumatoid polyarthritis.

It is not licensed as a medicinal product in Germany, but is available as a dietary supplement.
