Quecke gemeine

Common couch grass, also called creeping couch grass, common couch grass or Agropyron repens, is a plant of the genus couch grass within the sweet grass family (Poaceae). This grass species is distributed almost worldwide.

Creeping couch grass is a perennial and herbaceous plant that reaches growth heights between 50 and 150 cm. The plants forms creeping stolons and glabrous, erect culms.In addition, Agropyron repens has green leaves whose blades are 6 to 30 cm long and 3 to 5 mm wide.
The inflorescences of the plant are about 5 to 30 cm long with spikes 1 -2cm long. The flowering period in Central Europe is from June to August.

Phytotherapeutically used is the rootstock (couch grass rootstock - Graminis rhizoma).

Agropyron repens is the parent plant of Graminis rhizoma of the couch grass rootstock.
