A tall, slender tree belonging to the willow family that grows mainly on riverbanks.
It has been used as an important medicinal plant since ancient times. The buds are used as tea or in ointments for skin and joint problems.
The ingredient: salicin explains the phytotherapeutic use.
The buds(Populi gemma) and the bark(Populi cortex) of the poplar are used phytotherapeutically. The flexible and elastic wood is used in many ways, e.g. in veneer wood or for the production of matches.
