Phytotherapy, drug regulation

The monographs of the German Commission E have worldwide significance. According to §25 AMG 76, Commission E consists of 24 experts who must demonstrate special knowledge - scientific and/or practical - about the phytotherapeutic therapy direction and substance group.
The result of the factual discussions, in which the professional societies or individual scientists could also intervene, was laid down in positive and negative monographs published in the Federal Gazette. Internationally active expert groups dealing with phytotherapeutic therapy directions and substance groups are:

• ESCOP (European Scientific Cooperative on Phytotherapy): published as ESCOP monographs (see below https://escop.com/escop-products/)
• WHO (World Health Organization) drug monographs
• HMPC (Herbal Medicinal Prodructs Committee) - Monographs

The monographs provide detailed information on the drugs used and their ingredients, and present the results from available pharmacological, pharmacokinetic, toxicological, and clinical studies.
