Mullein large-flowered

The large-flowered mullein, also known as Verbascum densiflorum, is a plant in the mullein genus (Verbascum) and belongs to the phylloxera family. It is found in all moderately nitrogen-rich areas of Europe. The large-flowered mullein grows up to 3 m high with yellow, clustered flowers. Due to the fine hairs on the petals and stamens, the mullein has a "woolly" appearance. It flowers from July to September.

The dried petals with the mullein flowers ( Verbasci flos) are used phytotherapeutically.

The large-flowered mullein is a biennial plant that grows to a height of between 50 and sometimes 300 cm, flowers only once and then dies. Its above-ground plant parts are woolly. The alternate leaves are elliptical in shape, with yellowish to gray-green hairs on the leaf blade.
The mullein flowers from June to September. Its flowers are arranged in a terminal inflorescence and reach a diameter of 35 to 50 mm. The petals are golden yellow and the capsule fruit is brown when ripe. Verbascum densiflorum is the parent plant of Verbasci flos, the mullein flowers. The drug consists of the dried petals.
