Mullein large-flowered

The large-flowered mullein, also called Verbascum densiflorum, is a plant within the mullein genus (Verbascum) and belongs to the pharyngeal family. Its distribution area includes all moderately nitrogen-rich areas of Europe.

The dried petals with the (mullein flowers - Verbasci flos) are used phytotherapeutically. Due to the fine hairs on the petals and stamens, the mullein has a "woolly" appearance and is also known as the woolly flower.

The large-flowered mullein is a biennial plant that grows to heights between 50 and 300 cm and only flowers once. Its above-ground parts are woolly. The alternately arranged leaves are elliptical in shape, their leaf blade is yellowish to grey-green-haired.
The flowering period of the mullein is from June to September. Its flowers stand together in a terminal inflorescence and reach a diameter of 35 to 50 mm. The petals are golden yellow, the capsule fruit brown when ripe. Verbascum densiflorum is the parent plant of Verbasci flosthe mullein flowers. The drug consists of the dried petals.
