Lapachol is a naphthoquinone derivative with the molecular formula C15H14O3 which occurs naturally in various wood species, such as species of the family Bignoniaceae (e.g. Tabebuia impetiginosa). Like other prenylated naphthoquinones the substance has an antimicrobial, anticoagulant, but also teratogenic and skin irritating effects.
