Official preparation of celandineextracts

Dried celandine consisting of leaves, flowers and stems.

Quality recognized in the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph.Eur. 8.0).

HMPC: Originally the classification traditional-use was planned. However, due to the risk-benefit ratio, it was not recommended because of the side effects on the liver.
ESCOP monograph: Symptomatic treatment of mild cramps in the upper gastrointestinal tract, mild biliary complaints, dyspeptic complaints, flatulence, bloating.
Commission E-monograph: Cramp-like complaints in the biliary tract and gastrointestinal tract.

Empirical medicine: Gallstone, antispasmodic preparation, against jaundice, toothache. The milky juice: Warts (external) due to the cytotoxic, antimicrobial effect

Slightly spasmolytic in the upper digestive tract, choleretic, cholekinetic, antiphlogistic, analgesic, central depressant, antimicrobial, cyotoxic.

Increase in liver enzyme activities and serum bilirubin

Allergy to any of the ingredients. History or manifest liver disease, concomitant administration of other preparations toxic to the liver, pregnancy and lactation, children << 12 years.

largely withdrawn from the market - still contained in ^Iberogast® alongside 7 other plant extracts.

Ingredients: alkaloids, especially benzylisoquinoline type (e.g. coptisine, chelidonine, sanguinarine), chelidonic acid and caffeic acid derivatives.
