Otoacariasis is the (rare) occurrence of ticks and mites in the ear canal. The most common symptoms are itching, otalgia and a foreign body sensation, less frequently tinnitus and otorrhea

This is usually caused by ticks of the genus Hyalomma (Kasaragod SK et al. 2022).

Surgical removal by an ENT specialist. It is recommended to attach a tick to paper with an adhesive strip and send it to the Robert Koch Institute for documentation: Robert Koch Institute, ZBS 1, keyword "Tick", Seestraße 10, 13353 Berlin.
