Feasibility study

A feasibility study is a review and evaluation of the feasibility of a planned clinical study. A feasibility study is conducted as a preliminary study if the feasibility of a planned clinical study cannot be estimated and the success of the project is uncertain. In the feasibility study, the organizational effort, the required financial means, the required number of cases and the type of study design are examined. Furthermore, misplanning and risks are prevented or minimized, thus also preventing misinvestments.

The aim of the feasibility study is thus an evaluation of the means and time needed to successfully carry out the planned study. If the result is positive, the study will be started, whereas if the result is negative, the project will be rejected.
