Dimdi

DIMDI is the acronym for "Deutsches Institut für Medizinische Dokumentation und Information", is a subordinate authority of the Federal Ministry of Health. DIMDI produces classifications of diagnoses and diagnoses and maintains information systems for drugs, medical devices and supply procedures as well as for the evaluation of health-relevant procedures.

DIMDI fulfils the following legal mandates of the Federal Ministry of Health: Publication of official classifications (e.g. ICD-10, Thesauri and OPS), maintenance of medical terminology, maintenance of information systems for drugs, medical devices, supply data and health technology assessment and management of IT projects. DIMDI cooperates with national and international institutions (e.g. AWMF, BfArM, Federal Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry), the Federal Association for Consumer Protection and Life Safety (BVL), Federal Statistical Office and State Statistical Offices (DESTATIS), European Medicines Agency (EMA), Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI), World Health Organisation (WHO).
