Consort statement

The CONSORT Statement, also called "Consolidated Statement of Reporting Trials", is a guideline for publications of randomized therapy trials. CONSORT was first written in 1996 and last updated in 2010. CONSORT has established itself as a standard and is supported by more than 400 medical journals.

CONSORT makes detailed recommendations for the writing of reports, which are listed in a 25-point checklist. Special emphasis is also placed on the transparent description of the methodology used. CONSORT does not contain any recommendations on the design or implementation of the study, but is merely a guide to reporting so that the reader can evaluate the results.
