ascaridiasis. ascaris lumbricoides. approx. 50-75 x 40-50 micrometers large, fertile egg. it possesses a thick egg wall. inside an early larval stage. larval development in the egg lasts about 30-40 days in the open air.
Askaridiasis. Ascaris lumbricoides egg. further development of the larva in the egg. L2 larvae hatch from the egg in the host's intestine only after oral ingestion.
Askaridiasis. Ascaris lumbricoides, Taenia spp. and Fasciola hepatica in histological section. In the lower part of the picture the trematode Fasciola hepatica is visible in longitudinal section. On the left side the genital and mouth opening is visible, inside the trematode mainly the genital organs of the trematode are visible. In the middle 2 t.s. of Ascaris lumbricoides, a nematode, are visible through the thick cuticle. At the upper and right border of the picture there are t.s. of Taenia sp., a cestoda.
