lichen planus. detail enlargement: interface dermatitis with sawtooth-like acanthosis. characteristic features are "blurring" of the intercellular boundaries, hypergranulosis, orthohyperkeratosis and epidermotropic lymphocytic infiltrate. distinct vacuolar degeneration of the basal keratinocytes
haematoma, nail haematoma. nail alteration after slight crush trauma. striped, red and blue-black spots (splinter hemorrhages). since red and black shades are present at the same time, this finding speaks against a melanotic pigmentation.
Erythronychia, localized longitudinal detail magnified by reflected light microscopy; solitary, painless, red longitudinal striation of the nail plate with slight, V-shaped retraction and several splinter hemorrhages.
Lichen planus. overview with pathognomic fine-tissue architecture of the LP. ligamentous (not reaching into the deeper parts of the dermis) lymphocytic infiltrate which is "crowded" closely to the epithelium. moderate, continuous acanthosis and hypergranulosis as well as severe orthohyperkeratosis. in the right section of the picture distinct cleft formation in the area of the dermo-epidermal junction zone.
Nail hematoma: sharply distally limited discoloration of the big toe nail. nail matrix at the distal cutting edge unchanged. no longitudinal striation of the nail.
