Wolters, max

(¤ 1861, † 1914) Dermatologist, working in Rostock Born in Bonn in 1861 as son of the theology professor Albrecht Wolters. 1888 Start of dermatological training in Bonn with Josef Doutrelepont. 1892 habilitation in Bonn. 1897 appointed titular professor. 1902 appointment to the newly founded dermatological clinic in Rostock, which was run as a "dermatological university clinic" by ministerial decree since 1.10.1908. The clinic had 35 beds. In 1912, as the 3rd full professor in Germany at all, appointment as full professor and chair holder for the subject. Wolters was able to build up a clinic that was modern at the time. The collection of moulages was well known, which is said to have comprised 3000 specimens, of which 50 were still preserved in 1980. The widely known moulage artist was Mrs. Auguste Kaltschmidt. Wolters died at the age of 53 of a heart and kidney disease. His successor was Walter Frieboes. Scientific work was done on scleroderma, mycosis fungoides, myomas and on the epithelioma adenoides cysticum.
