Water-in-oil emulsifiers

Emulsifiers which are used e.g. in hydrophobic creams or water absorbing ointments. In particular amphiphilic compounds with moderately hydrophilic OH- and distinctly lipophilic groups (hydrocarbon chains or steric backbone) such as:

• Wool wax (Adeps lanae), wool wax alcohols (Alcoholes lanae).
• Hydrophilic compounds (phospholipids, e.g. lecithin, ampholyte soaps) or lipophilic non-ionic compounds (sorbitan fatty acid esters, e.g. spans), cholesterol, glycerol monostearate or cetylstearyl alcohol.
