Vulva atrophy senile N90.5

Today little used term for the slowly progressive atrophy without sclerosis or leukoplakia development of the external female genitalia after menopause in the sense of an increased physiological regression. The mucous membranes of the genitals become dry. Discrete labial adhesions are possible. More rare is a vaginal discharge.

Oily ointments containing oestrogen(e.g. Linoladiol H, Ovestin). Supplementary greasing and softening blanching local therapy with e.g. dexpanthenol ointment or linola milk. Application is also possible in alternation if necessary.

In case of severe itching, fatty glucocorticoids with tar (e.g. Jellin, Ichthocortin fat).

In addition, as in primary vulva atrophy, regular check-ups to rule out malignant degeneration or leukoplakia development, biopsy if necessary. Cooperation with the gynaecologist.
