In order to keep the number of injections to a minimum, combination vaccines should preferably be used. Vaccines with different antigen combinations of D/d, T, HB, HiB, IPV are already available. If combination vaccines are used, the manufacturer's instructions on vaccination distances must be observed.

A = booster vaccination: This should preferably be done not earlier than 5 years after the previous last dose;

G = basic immunisation of all young people not yet vaccinated or completion of incomplete vaccination protection;

S = standard vaccinations with general application = regular vaccinations

(a) = At these times the vaccination status should definitely be checked and completed if necessary;

(b) = From the age of 5 or 6 years, a vaccine with reduced diphtheria toxoid content (d) is used for booster;

(c) = Antigen combinations containing a pertussis component (aP) are used according to the scheme indicated for DTaP;

(d) = In accordance with maternity guidelines, serum should be tested for HBsAg in all pregnant women after the 32nd week of gestation, as close as possible to the date of birth. In case of positive HBsAg, immunization of the newborn infant must begin within the first 12 hours post partum.

* = intervals between vaccinations at least 4 weeks; interval between penultimate and last vaccination at least 6 months;

** = minimum interval between vaccinations 4 weeks;

*** = 10 years after the last previous dose;

**** = Annually with the current vaccine recommended by the WHO;

***** = Vaccination with polysaccharide vaccine, re-vaccination every 6 years
