From the vellus hair (under androgen influence) developed, large, strong (about 70um thick), pigmented hair.

The terminal hairs include:

  • Body hair: makes up about 90% of body hair in men and about 35% in women. Between 80,000 and 120,000 erminal hairs are found on the capillitium. Their density is 180-350/cm2.
  • Bristle hair: eyebrows, eyelashes.
  • Long hair: head, beard, armpits and pubic region.
  • Sexual hair: special form of terminal hair, which develops during puberty under the influence of androgens on certain parts of the body (axillae, genital regions, in men the beard and body regions).
