Eyebrows grown together above the root of the nose (mono brow)

At versch. syndromes the mono-brow is an important diagnostic phenomenon:

• Waardenburg Syndrome
• Cornelia de Lange syndrome
• Haydu-Cheney syndrome
• acromegaloid facies syndrome
• Chromosome 9p syndrome (Alfi syndrome)

The Italian physician Cesare Lombroso (1835-1909), in an early attempt at "profiling", listed the combination of dark hair and fused eyebrows among the 10 characteristics by which criminals could be identified.

In Western countries, conjoined eyebrows are generally regarded as a blemish. In some parts of the world, such as in Central Asia, they are considered the ideal of beauty for women.
