Sulfur

Sulfur was frequently used in dermatology in the magistral formulation , Neues Rezeptur-Formularium . In connection with the reauthorization of existing drugs, the official formulation commission B 7 has negatively assessed sulfur for skin therapy in the human field in a monograph. Prescriptions should not be prepared without individual benefit/risk assessment.

Individual benefit/risk assessment:

The prescription commission "Magistrale Rezepturen" of the Deutsche Dermatologische Gesellschaft (German Dermatological Society) has recommended in a "Resolution" on good principles of magistral prescribing in the case of sulfur a more permissive prescribing practice for dermatological application: Externally applied sulfur prescriptions may be supplied, provided that the prescribing physician is informed about the problem!
