(¤ 1891, † 1981) Dermatologist, working in Homburg/Saar. Born on 9.7. 1891 in Heusweiler/Saarland. School education in Metz and Saarlouis, medical studies in Munich, Strasbourg and Bonn. State examination in 1916/1917, since 1920 dermatological training at the University Dermatology Clinic in Bonn under E. Hoffmann. First works on syphilis. 1925 habilitation with a thesis on the serology of syphilis.1929 appointment as full professor. In 1934 he moved to Berlin and became head of the Department of Skin and Sexual Diseases in Berlin Tempelhof. 1946 Call to the newly founded skin clinic in Homburg/Saar. He continuously built up this clinic in the following years. 1950 with the foundation of the Saarland University he was accepted into the teaching staff and appointed first full professor for skin and venereal diseases. In 1934 Strempel played an inglorious role in the forced emeritation of his teacher E. Hoffmann in Bonn. His scientific work was primarily concerned with questions of venerology. Strempel's successor in Homburg/Saar was Fritz Nödl in 1960.
