Continuation of anti-inflammatory therapy, e.g. in atopic dermatitis, usually with the calcineurin inhibitors Tacrolimus or Pimecrolimus, beyond the healing stage. Previously affected eczema sites are treated 1-3 x week for several months.
In the meantime, proactive therapy e.g. with vitamin D analogues as monotherapy or in combination with local steroids (calcipotriol/bethamethasone dipropionate foam) is also propagated for the treatment of psoriatic plaques.
