Pringle, john james

(¤ 1855, † 1922) dermatologist, John James Pringle was born on 17 June 1855 in Borgue, Scotland. After studying medicine, he was a resident doctor at the Royal Hospital in Edinburgh. Dermatological training in Paris and in Vienna. After his return he worked at the Moorfield Eye Clinic and the Royal Hospital for Thoracic Diseases. In 1883 he joined the skin department of Middlesex Hospital. 1885 Member of the Dermatological Society in London; he was its secretary for 16 years. 1888 Head of the dermatological department at Middlesex Hospital. 1891 he became editor of the British Journal of Dermatology. James Pringle died in Christchurch (New Zealand) on 18 December 1922 during a trip to New Zealand at the age of 67.
