Neumann, isidor, noble von heilwart

(¤  2.3.1832, † 1906) Neumann was born in Mißlitz/Moravia, studied medicine in Vienna and received his doctorate in 1858. General medical training with Rokitansky and Skoda. Histopathological training with Carl Wedl. Since 1859 assistant to Ferdinand v. Hebra. 1862 habilitation for the field of "skin diseases". 1875 Appointment as apl. professor. 1881 Successor of Carl v. Sigmund and director of the first clinical department for syphilis. Neumann was one of the first to turn to the microscopic anatomy of skin diseases. Among other things, he wrote papers on the subjects of lupus erythematosus, pemphigus vegetans (named after Neumann) and actinic elastosis. Another focus was mycology. His dermatological textbook was published in 5 editions from 1869. Neumann was a consultant to the k. (u.) k. Imperial and Royal Government. Among other things he achieved the introduction of dermatology as an examination discipline for medical students. With the death of Moriz Kaposi in 1902 and Neumann in 1906, the great era of Viennese dermatology came to an end. Ernest Finger (1856-1939) became Neumann's successor.
