- (¤ 1855, † 1916) Dermatologist. Neisser was born on 22.1.1855 in Schweidnitz/Silesia as son of the physician Dr. Moritz Neisser. After completing the elementary school in Nüsterberg, Neisser attended the St. Maria Magdalena grammar school in Breslau. Here he completed the Matura (A-levels) together with his schoolmate Paul Ehrlich in 1872. Afterwards he studied medicine in Breslau. 1877 doctorate in Breslau. 1879, at the age of 24 years, first publication about the gonorrhoea pathogen in the Zbl. für Med. Wissenschaften under the title: "On a micrococci form peculiar to gonorrhoea". From 1877, first dermatological training at the Dermatology Clinic of the University of Wroclaw under Oskar Simon. Afterwards he changed to the University of Leipzig, where he worked with the Virchow students Cohnheim and Weigert. 1880 Venia legendi. In 1882 at the age of 27 he became director of the University Dermatology Clinic in Breslau. In 1889 Neisser founded the German Dermatological Society together with Filipp Josef Pick, Moriz Kaposi, Edmund Lesser and Josef Doutrelepont.
