Mucopolysaccharides, also known as glycosamine glycans, are high molecular weight substances (polysaccharides), which are composed of repeating disccharide units (disaccharides), a mostly sulphated amino sugar (N-acetyl-glucosamine or N-acetyl-galactosamine) and usually a uronic acid.
