LADD

Acronym for laser assisted drug delivery. Ablative fractionated lasers can support photodynamic therapy (PDT) for actinic keratoses with field carcinogenization: the use of lasers significantly improves the uptake of 5-methyl-aminolevulinic acid - a metabolic precursor of the photosensitizer protoporphyrin IX. A prerequisite for efficient LADD in PDT is the precise ablation of the upper epidermal parts and the dermal components with the formation of a columnar dermal ablation channel.

Extensive studies have shown that ALA and its methyl esters as well as the hexyl derivative in particular are homogeneously and deeply enriched.

The introduction of active ingredients after fractional ablative laser therapy is also already being used to treat wrinkles.

• various inflammatory dermatoses.
