Goeckermann, william h.

(¤ 17.6.1884, † 1954) The dermatologist born in Hanover studied medicine at the Wisconsin College of Physicians and Surgeons. Doctorate in 1906. In 1917 he became assistant to John Stokes, the founder and head of the dermatological department of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. 1920 appointed Associate Professor of Dermatology. In 1932 he opened a dermatology practice in Los Angeles. The name Goeckerman is still associated today with the so-called Goeckerman Scheme (publication 1925), a combination therapy of UV radiation and tarry externals, which has been used very successfully ever since in psoriasis vulgaris.
